Many terrific things come from Belgium. It’s the world’s most underestimated country, culinarily speaking. Belgium produces great beers, marzipan confectioneries, smallgoods such as Ardennes ham, and of course chocolate and ice cream. And it’s these last two which team up for something of a gastronomic sensation that the Belgians call Dame Blanche (or White lady). I call it a triumph.
Melt chocolate in bowl over hot water bath (bain marie) or in microwave. Stir in butter and allow to melt. Stir in orange liqueur and cream. Allow to warm to a smooth, rich sauce. To serve: Pour hot chocolate over ice cream, sprinkle over a few chopped nuts and serve immediately.
